About Us
SYSTEM 49 is an Australian engineering software company. Its first product, ALKANE, is a calculation suite for hydrocarbon process and pipeline work that runs in full on a mobile device. Every module states the standard or correlation it follows, and ALKANE's built-in V&V Diagnostics checks the core engines against published reference data, reported on Validation & Verification.
Why ALKANE exists
ALKANE provides insight into fluid behaviour at the operating conditions an engineer is working with, at the point of work. It supports engineering judgement with a calculated, traceable result; it does not replace that judgement.
Engineering philosophy

Future direction
ALKANE is the first of a planned range of SYSTEM 49 products. SYSTEM 49 will expand this approach, bringing calculated fluid insight to new tools for engineers and operations teams.
Chartered Electrical Engineer (MIEAust, CPEng, NER), specialising in instrumentation and control systems. Industry experience spanning 30 years across manufacturing and the oil & gas sector, including BHP, BlueScope Steel, Cooper Oil Tool, ExxonMobil, and more recently Woodside Energy.
